I became interested in Chiropractic following treatment for a lower back injury aged 15 I sustained during a rugby match. At this time I was very interested in anatomy and sport and found myself fascinated by Chiropractic and the effect it had on my then chronic injury, this had failed to improve through conventional NHS treatment. I decided that I wanted to become a Chiropractor and I never looked back, in retrospect it was actually a good injury sustain!
I tailored my future studies to gain admission to the renowned Anglo European College of Chiropractic and graduated as a Chiropractor in 2005 with a bachelors and masters degrees and DC title. I also completed a post-graduate certificate in Chiropractic practice as well as gaining further training in Dry Needling Acupuncture.
Following graduation I returned home to my beloved North East and practiced in Heaton at The Chiropractic Centre for one of the Chiropractors who treated me aged 15. I worked here for 2 years before moving to the Wellness Centre in Westerhope for 7 years before leaving to help set up NGCO clinic in Blaydon in 2014. I completed my journey in 2018/19 buying and redeveloping a property and opening up our own clinic Croft House.
I strive to continue to learn and develop through my Continuing Professional Development in numerous areas. I have tailored such studies towards Kinematics, running and gait analysis in addition to specific rehabilitative programs in recent times.
A desire and determination to achieve both my own and my patients’ full potential are core values. I believe that we can always be better and that with a healthy body can we truly enjoy life, achieving the most out of it. As well as striving to get others to reach their potential, I maintain a regular exercise regime and I’m involved in numerous sports. I visit my gym and run regularly with the Great North Run an annual event with a PB of 1 hour 43 with £2500 raised for cancer charities so far.
I utilise numerous chiropractic techniques, soft tissue massage, cross friction and myofascial release techniques, dry needling acupuncture, ultrasound, kinesio-taping, use of cryotherapy, mobilisation techniques and I’m a firm believer in giving exercises, stretches and advice to allow clients to continue their treatment at home and help themselves as much as possible. Pilates, swimming and rehabilitation exercises specific to the injury are regularly given and advised to help prevent reoccurrence and achieve your potential.
The full variety of complaints that fall under the chiropractic umbrella interest me, such as Sciatica, mechanical lower back pain, general joint pain, pain related to arthritis, mechanical neck pain, cervicogenic headache and others, with patients who have ranged from children to those in their 90’s. I’m registered with the General Chiropractic Council and I’m a member of the British Chiropractic Association.
I am registered with the majority of health insurance companies and regularly correspond with other health care professionals arranging necessary scans or referrals to get the best outcome for my patients. I strive to keep abreast of developments and advances in chiropractic by continuing my education attending seminars and courses throughout the UK.
